A.B.A.P.E.C. (translated as, Association des Amis du Bas-peu-de Chose—meaning Friends from Bas-peu-de Chose, Port-au-Prince) is a non-profit organization founded in 1989.
The purpose of the organization is to provide a community for Haitians in New York to connect through special events, networking, and fundraising to support projects in the both Haiti and the Haitian community in New York.
In response to the earthquake that struck Haiti on Jan 12th, 2010, CESA (Collaborative Efforts Supporting Ayiti) chapter was founded by Deborah Innocent and several young professionals to provide support to relief efforts and implement long-term programs to support the reconstruction of Haiti.
CESA has divisions to administer relief to each category: Medical; Collection of Goods; Collection of Funds; Information Technology Support; Infrastructure; Social Services; and Legal. Each division has professionals to manage each category and connect individuals with resources as needed.
L’Abapec’s members are professionals who have been serving the Haitian community in the United States and Haiti for over 20 years. Together with the young generation of professionals of CESA we are destine to overcome this tragedy by providing an unprecedented networking service that will effectively impact our beloved nation for a successful future!
